Inspired by the transformational relationship of an artist/educator and a teenager during the late 1960s, Manchester Craftsmen's Guild was founded in the knowledge that deep creative engagement leads to a gateway for personal development. Today's MCG Youth offers programs for middle and high school students and their teachers during the school day , after school and summer studios.
School-day programs can be designed to address arts standards and integrate with them with other content areas including literacy and math. Our Artists-In-Schools programs can custom design short-term workshops or longer-term residencies to take place in schools with or without art facilities.
Manchester Craftsmen's Guild also offers its own facility as a resource through which staff artists guide students in ways to enrich learning with the help of specialized tools and resources. Whether here on the North Side or in your own school, Manchester Craftsmen's Guild is highly accessible. Art Explorers brings middle school students into our studios and gallery to experience the arts and develop their creativity and communications skills.
During after-school hours, the award winning Apprenticeship Training Program (ATP) offers high school students an imagination inspiring array of courses in Ceramics , Photography , Digital Arts and Design Arts .
All MCG Youth programming is offered to Pittsburgh Public School students at no cost.
